LONDON: Former head of Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Amarjit Singh Dulat has proposed “dialogue” as an on
ly way to resolve Kashmir dispute.
He expressed these views during a debate with
former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Ehsanul Haq on Friday ni
ght in London.
Both the
former heads were invited to a function organized by the London School of Economics’ South Asia Forum.
The
former RAW chief said that the New Delhi has created a ‘mess’ in Kashmir in the past 15 months. “India’s strategy of not engaging with Pak
istan made no sense at all,” he added.
He further said, “Heavy handedness has never worked in Kashmir… actually, it doesn’t work anywhere as we’ve seen recently in Spain.”
The
former ISI chief remarked, “The situation in Kashmir had taken a turn for the worse since last July.
He said that the Indian forces us
ed pellet guns ruthlessly to tackle the protest of Kashmiri people.
Ehsanul Haq also accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using harsh rhetoric against Pak
istan for electoral and political advantage.
