LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Chief Justice, Mansoor Ali Shah, on Tuesday sought copies of decisions by accountab
ility courts which ac
quitted the prime minister and his family in Ittefaq Foundry and other references.
The chief justice was hearing a petition of resident Mahmood Akhtar.
The CJ p
ut off the hearing until March 27th and directed the petitioner to furnish copies of the decision delivered by the accountab
ility courts. The petitioner’s counsel stated that accountab
ility courts ac
quitted the PM and his family members in NAB references and the NAB had not challenged their acquittal. He stated that the NAB chairman was under obligation to file appeals against the tria
l court’s verdict. He also alleged that the Sharifs had defaulted on loans obtain
ed from National Bank of Pakistan. He requested the court order the NAB chairman to challenge the acquittal of the Sharifs in the accountab
ility references.
