NDMA says 81 killed in rain-related incidents so far

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Monday said that 81 people had been killed in rain-related accidents in the country in the past 22 days. According to details, 30 people lost their lives in Punjab, 12 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 23 in Balochistan, six each in Sindh and FATA and three in Islamabad. A total of 117 people were also injured and 103 houses were damaged. According to the NDMA, 77 people were injured in Punjab, 14 in KP, 17 in Sindh, one in AJK and eight in FATA. Similarly, 12 houses were damaged in the Punjab, 29 in KP, five in Sindh, 20 in Balochistan, 29 in AJK, two in Fata, five in Gilgit-Baltistan and one in Islamabad. NDMA warned of heavy rains in Balochistan and Dera Ghazi Khan during next 72 hours. The authority also directed officials to monitor the situation closely. The NDMA said that all rivers were flowing at normal levels. However, low to medium flooding is expected at water channels of the Chenab.
